Irishman Seamus Power has received the fourth most betting tickets and fourth highest betting handle to win the Travelers Championship this week at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, CT, at BetMGM.

He’s the second largest liability for the sportsbook behind only 13-time PGA Tour winner Jordan Spieth.

Power won his lone PGA event in a weak field at the 2021 Barbasol Championship, which ran opposite of The Open Championship. Guess where the best golfers in the world chose to tee it up that week?

Safe to say, the victory carries significantly less merit considering the lack of high-end competition.

Power’s popularity among bettors this week is all the more interesting considering he’s also failed to have a standout season. Sure, he finished T-9 in the PGA Championship in May and T-12 last week in the U.S. Open, but he’s also missed the cut entirely in eight of 22 events this year.

Bettors must be chasing the luck of the Irish.

Here’s a peek at some additional notable betting insights from BetMGM.

Highest Ticket Percentage

Highest Handle Percentage

To start, everyone is drooling over Davis Riley this week — the DFS community, bettors, golf pundits, everyone really.

The 25-year-old American is certainly knocking on the door for his first PGA Tour victory, but this is far from a watered-down field, and this will also be his first competitive trek around TPC River Highlands on tour.

A two-time winner on tour, Brian Harman, is the only other name sticking out from the crowd on the two lists. He’s played in 11 events at TPC River Highlands, though, and he has four top-10 finishes. However, his last victory on tour came all the way back at the Wells Fargo Championship in 2017.

Notable Line Movement

  • Sungjae Im opened +3300, to +2800
  • Marc Leishman opened +6600, to +5000
  • K.H. Lee opened +12500, to +10000
  • Tony Finau opened +2800, to +3300
  • Rory McIlroy opened +900, to +1000

Longshot Fliers Based on Handle Percentage

  • K.H. Lee (+10000)
  • Joel Dahmen (+8000)
  • Tom Hoge (+10000)

It’s not surprising to see Dahmen on the list after he was paired in the final group with Collin Morikawa on Saturday in the U.S. Open last weekend. Additionally, he finished 20th at the event last season — his fourth time pegging it at the Travelers.
